Leftover Pieces
- Interesting Steps:
- Note: each sub-build is confusingly numbered separately, which means that the oven has steps 1-13, and then the first floor has steps 1-24. So, instead of calling out specific steps, I'll refer to the book and page number on which the step appears.
- Book 1, Page 34 makes good use of SNOT brackets to create the bottom of the Moorish-style arch in the facade, completed with two 4x4 round corner "macaroni" tiles on Page 51.
- Interesting Techniques:
- Book 2, Page 21 (and Page 27, with similar steps in Book 3) uses a round 1x3 with open studs to prop the arched segment open, at roughly a 45° angle
- Book 2, Page 49 has a tan 1x2 jumper arch on a tan 1x1x3 brick between two white 2x2x5 quarter cylinders to mimic the effect of a round tower with two lancet windows. The 4x1x2/3 double curve that gets put on top isn't the most elegant solution, but it has promise.
- Interesting Pieces:
- "Medium Nougat Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with Brick Archway, Dark Blue and Dark Bluish Gray Frame and Lattice Screen, White Roses, Leaves, and Thorns Pattern" - a literal rose window

- "White Cylinder Quarter 4 x 4 x 6 with Black Narrow Arched Windows with Copper Lattice Screens and Tan Frames Pattern"
- Pain Points:
- Book 1, Page 11 has you place a pie piece in the oven, but it's hard to fit fingers and pie in there and get it to stick on the 1x2 jumper plate, and the way the oven is built means there's no earlier step where you'd have more access—thankfully my sticker-placing tweezers make it easy enough
- Bag 1, step 6 (each sub-build is confusingly numbered separately) requires you to place 4 stickers on the door panels, requiring a steady eye and a good sense of centering
I'm not a fan of minidolls (vs. classic minifigures) and while some of the designs utilized in Wish are interesting, the movie itself was...a hot mess by pretty much any metric. That said, this build provided a lot of pieces that will be useful in similarly-medieval/fantasy MOCs, especially since I'm planning of making some minifigure-scaled fantasy buildings of my own.
