TL;DR:
- Original Price: $4.99
- Pieces: 9
- Minifigure(s): Steampunk Inventor
- Sticker Sheet: No
- Pros: Great parts & printing
- Cons: One-sided arms
Leftover Pieces
- Interesting Techniques:
- The use of the ice cream scoops as steam exhaust from the gauntlet is fun and adds a bit of life to the build.
- Interesting Pieces:
- The minifigure hand armor piece I thought was new, but it's been around since 2015, and has appeared in themes as diverse as Nexo Knights, Monkie Kid, and Ultra Agents. It looks like the pearl gold version only appears in this set and 76323 "Avengers: Endgame Final Battle," where it's used for a Chitauri weapon and not, as I would have expected, an Infinity Gauntlet. Still, it's good to see that such a unique and useful part is available on a $5 minifig as well as a $100 mega set.
- Pain Points:
- My only complaint is that the printing on the right arm is somewhat limiting, especially if one wants to use the torso for other builds. Where the legs are great (who doesn't love pinstripes?), any figure using the torso will have to either replace the right arm or just have a mechanical right arm. It would have been nice if it had come with extra arms, the same way the DND minifigs came with extra heads: instead of different genders for each of the races, it could have left and right arms in both mechanical and normal printing, to make it that much more customizable.
This is a great figure on the whole, and—apart from the arms' one-sidedness as mentioned above—one of my favorites out of the CMF 27 lineup. I ended up getting a few extras of him, if only so I could have plenty of spare top hats and muttonchops for future figbarf projects. The printing is exquisite and elaborate, really making him stand out.
