- Interesting Techniques:
- The mix of curves is particularly interesting, and does a good job of evoking the shape of the AAT's back half.
- My Modifications:
- I was inspired by the colors and shapes of the pieces in this set to try making my own battle droid. As is usually the issue with re-builds, I started running into issues of needing certain parts that either weren't in the set or that I'd already used. The final result isn't impressive by any means, but it was a fun little challenge. I still want to try making a larger battle droid using the paired 1x2 slopes as I did here, perhaps with more varied SNOT elements to make the angles work right (I had to use the spare "hose nozzle" as his neck).
- I also went online (this website for example, How to Build It, has a great collection of different builds, though there's a lot of popup ads) to find other options and was particularly impressed by user dorianbricktron's "Micro Sand Palace" build...so I built my own. It's a little fragile, but it looks great, and makes fantastic use of the parts in the set.
This set was an ideal polybag experience to my mind. Small enough to be very cheap, but with a great assortment of parts that come together to make an impressive model. It also doesn't hurt at all that so many of the pieces lend themselves to creative uses in various other ways, and make this an excellent addition to the collection of Star Wars fans as well as anyone wanting these colors for MOCs of their own.
