30700 Arin vs. Dragonian Battle LEGO Review - Ninjago, 2025

Small, but fun enough. And it has a frog!

TL;DR:

  • Original Price:  $4.99
  • Pieces: 48
  • Minifigure(s): Arin, Spectral Dragonian
  • Sticker Sheet: No
  • Pros: inexpensive, good minifigures
  • Cons: quick build, minifigures only technically exclusive

  • Play Features:
    • By rotating the 5L bar with handle, one is sort of able to winch up the healing elixir (as represented by the yellow crystal) up out of the Well of the Lost. The chain is only holding onto the bar with a bit of friction, but it's sufficient for such a light load.

• Overall:  I appreciate getting a little bit of scenery, and the well's build does a pretty good job of being a shorthand version of the actual structure in the show (where it's got a house-sized roof covering the winch and wellhead. If I had one issue with it, it would be that the winch and its roof appear to be made of wood in the show, but in the build the winch supports look more like stone; there is also no red detailing whatsoever in the show version. But as a standalone build, it does make for a striking color palette. (I also don't remember there being a frog in the show's version, but it's a cute addition)

The minifigures are of course the stars of this little set, and the reason for picking it up in the first place. While both are listed as "exclusive" in BrickEconomy, this is merely because of slight variations: Arin's costume is the same as in several other sets, with the only difference being that he has hair instead of his horned hood, and the spectral Dragonian has the rubbery mohawk piece instead of the dragon skull helmet found in other sets. They're nice figures regardless, and this was the cheapest set that contained them.

I would class this as a good impulse buy set: a $5 polybag with two colorful characters (one good guy and one bad guy) and a bit of a scenery build to give their battles some context. I could see this going in a child's travel kit or Christmas stocking. It's not a fantastic set, but it's not a bad set either.
